iURBAN workshop with customers of a smart home system in Energo, Rijeka

Location: Croatia, Rijeka
Date: 11.02.2016

As a part of their participation in the iURBAN project eight customers to which Energo provides gas services decided to install a smart home system as a part of their participation in the iURBAN project. The smart home devices enables monitoring and managing of the consumption for the following forms of energy: heating (regardless of whether it is district heating or gas heating) and electricity (managing of larger consumers and air conditioners). Practice showed that implementation of such systems decreases consumption for approximately 10%, and presumption is that saving potential is even higher.
Fridge magnets with energy saving advices were provided to the customers who shared their experiences and anecdotes on how they are engaging for the a whole family.
The workshop was led by Marko Križanec, Ana Bajek and Veljko Đirlić from Energo. They thank to the participants for attending the meeting and giving some great input from a Smart Home user perspective.

Technical study visit to passive house

Location: Bulgaria, Plovdiv
Date: 19.12.2015

The Energy Agency of Plovdiv and Green Synergy Cluster organized a study visit to the first certified private passive house in Bulgaria. The aim of the visit was to define technical and financial aspects of building such premises and supplying them with the latest and innovative solutions for energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

The technical visit focused on the installation solutions and architectural elements used to supply enough heat/cooling for the whole building through the year. The building has its own heat energy supply through solar thermal panels, and the electrical energy comes from the grid. Due to the high construction costs, energy monitoring system was not supplied. The visitors discussed the benefits of introducing iURBAN monitoring and management system that would eventually help improve the overall energy balance of the building. Installing the Prosumer Monitoring system will help determine if the solar installation is sufficient for the house, and introducing Smart Home system would be beneficial to the energy consumption in the premises. Both systems would trigger new energy behaviour that will increase the energy efficiency in the building.
